Quick Tips on Reducing Your Carbon Footprint and Saving You Money...

1. Those little red light ... sure you know the ones ... you will be amazed how much juice they eat every year. So... turn them off. That includes the DVD Player, TV, Stereos and all those other items with that little red light. How many times have you put your phone or laptop on charge and forgotten about it? That's more of your hard earned cash straight down the drain. See our Home Shop for the latest energy efficient electrical items for your home.

2. We know you have seen those weird looking light bulbs in the supermarket so why didn't you buy them? Sure they are a bit more expensive BUT they last up to 12 times longer and burn less than 1/4 of the electricity ... think of the savings you will make! You can actually save about £9.00 or more for per year on EACH bulb you install. Right, now that there is no excuse ... look you don't even have to leave your chair ... Order your Bulbs Right Here Buy - Well done that's another load of money you have just saved ... how good is that!

3. How many times have you filled the kettle to the 'Max' for just one cup of tea ... It's crazy... 1. You will wear the kettle out quicker - that's more money gone and; 2. That's more money down the drain on your electricity bill - are you rich? We read somewhere, not sure, you know how it is ... that if we all boiled just enough each time we could save enough electric to power 2/3 of the street lighting in the entire UK. Well that sure impressed us! Jolly wicked information! What about buying a new Energy Efficient Kettle, they even look great! See our Home Shop.

4. When is the last time you went to the attic and checked your loft insulation? Ahh... only bats go up there ... How would you know? Go take a look and while you are at it check to see if your insulation is running a bit thin. OK, for a little effort and money (sure you have to buy the insulation) you could save yourself over £200 a year on fuel bills. No, it's not difficult, you won't need an expensive contractor to carry out the work and loft insulation really isn't that expensive... forget washing the car this weekend (save the water) go sort your loft out, you'll be able to afford to have someone else wash the car. Yep! you got it, we even have a supplier for that in our DIY Suppliers section.

5. Bet you didn't know that over 30% of your heat loss annually (in an uninsulated home) is through your walls. Yeah, it's a shocker! Just by having Cavity Wall insulation could save you over £150 a year. It's not difficult or expensive. You'll be as warm as toast in the winter because you won't be letting the heat out.

Jolly Wicked fact ... If every household in the UK, that could, installed cavity wall insulation, together we'd save over £962 million of energy every year! We know you're impress ... who wouldn't be! OK, visit our DIY Suppliers section to find out how to insulate your home.

6. That thirsty little beast in the garage. What do you mean this is nothing to do with the home? It comes out of the household budget doesn't it! This will knock you down. Did you know that by Car Pooling (that's Green Techie for Sharing Cars with work mates) you could save, on average £50 a week, that's like over £1,200 a year (24 x £50). That's another Jolly Wicked saving! Hey, it could be more if there are more of you to share. Before we get off this one ... do you really need to get in the car to go and get your newspaper? No.... didn't think so and the walk will do you a world of good.

7. How's that old boiler in the house? Remember if it's getting on (15 years or more) you might want to replace it. It's now law that all new boilers must be of the high-efficiency condensing type. If you get one with a modern control system you can save up to 1/3 on your heating bills. Whao! 1/3 ... you work it out! OK, visit our DIY Suppliers section to get a new one.

8. Out with the Old ... In with the New! Get rid of those old electric guzzling appliance and look for the new ones displaying the Energy Saving Logo. These new gadgets use far less electric. That's another load of cash in your bank account every year. You can find all the Household Appliances you need in our Home Shop section.

9. How cold are you? Do you think 1ºC is going to make any difference to how you feel? Well you'll feel just great knowing that you will save 10% of your heating bills every year just by turing that thermostat down by 1ºC.

10. Giving your clothes a bath at at 30oC rather than normal temperatures means you use a massive 40% less electricity. Now that is Jolly Wicked!! Why not get a new Washing Machine that saves energy? You can find all the Household Appliances you need in our Home Shop section.
